I’ve managed to make it till day 4! And yes, today has been a real struggle. I felt so bad during the day, I felt light headed and sick. Around noon, before work, I got a terrible headache as decided to eat something. So that’s what I did. I ate, and I slept. When I woke up I wasn’t feeling like shit anymore.
So what did I learn?
I can’t go without solid food on hard, busy days. I need some food, even if it’s just a small salad.
I’m still finishing it, but I’m not gonna fast anymore. It’ll be more like an interment fast. I’ll drink juice till around dinner and then I eat one meal. And I want it to be a light meal, so nothing cooked.
Do I experience benefits?
Yes! I wasn’t sleepy at all. I did slept some during the day but that was due to my body, not because I was feeling tired. I also feel concentrated all the time. And my belly isn’t that bloated anymore.
I’m looking to find out what tomorrow will bring. Will I feel better now I survived day 4? I’m going to the gym tomorrow, so let’s find out how that will be.
I have done 2 days of fasting (and cheating a bit with fruits) and I’m on day ! If you want to see what I drank on day 1, click here. I will be filming it all, just to show you how I’ve been doing and to show you the juices I drink. I also made a video of my second day. Feel free to watch, comment or whatever. I’ll be happy to read them. 🙂
How am I feeling?
Pretty good. I’m not that tired anymore. Actually I feel like I’ve been getting more energy. My sore throat is gone, and my headache too. You could say I’m getting the hang of it. I want to do at least 2 more days, but I’ll be eating a bit more. So it’s strictly seen not a juice fast anymore.
Today I have a movie date with a friend, I haven’t seen her in a while. We arranged to eat in a restaurant next to the cinema and I don’t want to cancel it. So I called the restaurant and asked if they could prepare me a green salad without dressing and stuff. They are willing to do that. So that’s what I’ll be eating today.
I now drink 3 Brandstof juices a day, and make 1L smoothie or juice myself. I also drink a lot of tea. I haven’t worked out the last 4 days because I was feeling so bad. Maybe tomorrow I will give it a go. I made a video about today. It gives a good view on what I drink.
Tomorrow is gonna be challenging. I have to go to my internship first for 4 hours, and then in the evening I have to work. Like some who may read this for a longer period, I work as a waitress. So I walk a lot and make long shifts. I think I’ll be eating some salad before work, because I’m afraid it might be to heavy without.
Nevertheless, I’ll keep you updated! I will be making posts and videos. I also have an Instagram account and that is; @rawjazzie.
I would love to follow you guys!!
Today is day 5 in Marrakech, and Vincent and I decided to follow a Maroccan cooking class!
I found it online and after checking their site we decided it was a fun thing to do!
The class started at ten in the morning.
We first went to the market, to buy all our ingredients. I pointed out that I was a vegan, it was no problem.
We bought a lot of vegetables, meat for Vincent, fruit for the juice and spices for in our dishes.
After that, we went to the hostel where we were going to cook. The lady who was giving the class, made us Maroccan tea. (You can see it on my YouTube channel; rawjazzie) And then it was time to make the preparations!
Prepare (or making your mise en place) is always the most work to do. The cutting, mixing and chopping takes a lot of time.
We were going to make a tagine with vegetables and lamb with a sort of gravin. We also made a mango/orange juice. I’ll be posting the recipe, so you can make it too! We made the lamb in a pressure cooker; if you use a stone tagine, it’ll take over 6 hours to cook. We didn’t have that time, so a pressure cooker is also fine.
It took time to cook; in between we were drinking our juice and relaxing at the rooftop terrace. It was sunny, but not too hot. After 40 minutes it was cooked and we enjoyed our meal. I liked my tagine, there were so any vegetables in it!
The woman who gave the class was very friendly and her English was good.
I recommend the class because it gives you a new view into the Maroccan culture. You’ll find out how they make all of your favorite dishes, and you learn to make them yourself. The atmosphere in the class was great; very relaxed and there was no rush. It was a very nice thing to do.
Sometimes it can be pretty expensive to be a vegan. Here in Holland you always pay way more for a salad then for a sandwich. Why? I have NO IDEA. A salad seems like a healthier and better choice right? Well, people in Holland don’t think that way. But this is just a small example. When you become a vegan, or a fruitarian, you’ll find out sooner or later that fruit is expensive. It’s cheaper to buy 1 dollar burgers then to buy some berries or mangoes. It’s just something we have to accept in order to become healthier and to be the best versions of ourselves. But still, here are some budget tips.
1. I always try to buy my veggies and fruit at the market. Yes, it will take you some time but it’ll save you money. I recently bought 4 larges sugarcorns for €2.5 while they were €2.99 in the supermarket, for just 2 pieces of corn!!
2. Only buy organic if it’s really necessary. I wish I could buy it all organic but unfortunately that’s too expensive. That’s why I have organic tomatoes, but not organic spinach.
3. Try to buy fruits and veggies from your own country. I’m from Holland, so in the winter we produce a lot of kale. It’s really good for you, and really cheap!
4. Try to mix fresh vegetables with canned veggies. I love to make a white bean salad, but fresh white beans can cost you a lot of money. That’s why I use canned beans and mix them up with fresh veggies like lettuce and cucumber. It’s just as good.
5. Buy frozen fruit for your smoothies. I love strawberries, but they are expensive. That’s why I use frozen ones for in my smoothie. A whole package (200grams) cost me only €1.20! There are a lot of frozen fruits these days, so try to bring some variety in your smoothies.
I hope you can use my tips. I have found them very effective.
how are you today? I’m fine, had school till 3, and later on people from school are coming to work on our artproject.
We’re making a movie, and I’m playing the criminal, haha.
I made a berrylicious smoothie today. It was a lot, but really good!
I needed a big smoothie; there was so much wind today, the wind almost blew me of my bike.
But it was a good workout. 😉
For dinner I made these peppers;
– 4 pointed peppers
– spring onions
Cut the peppers in half. Pre-heat the oven at 170 degrees.
Cut the mushrooms, tofu and onions and sauteed the onions, tofu and mushrooms. Bake the spinach for 2 minutes.
Fill the paprika’s up with the onions, tofu, spinach and mushrooms.
Put them in the oven for 24 minutes.
Put them out, and enjoy!
I found it very delicious! I love my peppers.
Did you enjoyed new years eve? I certainly did. I went to a party of my neighbours; Paul&Paul. It was so much fun. There were “old people” that I already knew, and new people that I got to know. I talked with people from all over the world, and I got inspired by their happines and positive thoughts.
Me & my wonderful mum
But it’s 2015 now, and I’m feeling brandnew.
I haven’t eaten any meat or dairy yet; I haven’t feel temptated, but I’m sure that’s gonna come up someday.
I ate a lot of banana’s the past few days and I’m feeling a bit like a monkey. All I do is peeling banana’s… I’m not at Banana Island, but it sure feels like it. I’m eating this much banana’s because I wanted to start the year with somesort of a cleanse, and it gives amazing health results. School is gonna start tuesday and I’m not really feeling like it. There’s so much to do in so little time.. But I need to be motivated: I’m in good health, I now I’m capable of doing it; so let’s do it!
Well, I’m back from my trip to banana island! And I had such a good time. I did found it hard sometimes. I had some evenings where my boyfriend was enjoying an amazing looking salad, while I was stuck at my banana’s. But I got used to it. I’ve only done it for 4 whole days and 1 morning. I stopped because I had a dinerparty from my father in law, he made some special dishes for me, so I dind’t like to refuse them, But they weren’t fat or anything, everything was HCLF.
Did I enjoy banana island?
Yeah, I actually did. After I got used to large amounts of banana’s, I enjoyed eating them. I also saw (or I thought I saw, it might be to quick to judge) health benefits! It looked like my hair stopped falling out. Also my skin had some sort of a glow, it felt nice. And my digestion was amazing! Me, with all the colon problems, had a good digestion!! I think that was the best advantage.
What I didn’t like about banana Island:
You have to eat banana’s ONLY. So it’s hard to join dinnerparty’s, ’cause the only thing you can eat are banana’s. I had to reject some nice evenings, because of the food. I couldnt eat anything, so why should I go then? I only did it for 4 days, but tis could be a real problem if you wat to do it for a longer time of period. And I literally got sick of bananas. I probably ate to much, or it was some kind of a detox. After 4 days, I craved normal food like hell.
But in the end, it felt great.
DO I want to do it again? Yes. It did make me feel so healthy, and it fixed my digestion problems.
But for now, I’m really happy to eat RT4 again!
Goodevening everyone 🙂
I’ve survived day 3, haha! Again, this was a hot day. I ate almost all of my meals at home, and whenever I’m at home I’ll always follow the guidelines. So I can proudly say: today was a good day! OKey, I ate a lot of rice but I walked a lot at work and I had a morning workout. 🙂 I managed to run (although it were only 3.4 km)! I felt not as tired as I usually did, so that’s a good thing. But I also slept like 8 houres, so that can also be the cause… I hope it’s from RT4. I felt quite happy today. Oh, I forgot to tell it yesterday, but whenever I’m at my work (in the cafe/restaurant) I don’t eat lunch around 1 but around 3/4. That’s why I sometimes eat a cooked lunch.
Day 3 RT4
Breakfast: 3 apples, 1 banana
Snack: watermelon, 3 banana’s
Lunch: gluten free bread (quite a lot) with humus and sushi
Dinner: Rice with some veggies (like paprika and eggplant)
Snack: More sushi….
