New years resolutions

Hello!

I thought I already posted this one, but I saw I didn’t. . Oops. I know it’s now January,  and that were almost going into February. That doesn’t mind. My resolutions can’t be done in a month, so I’ll still post them. I would love to check out new blogs BTW,  so please like or comment. Then I can find your blog easier.

image

These 4 things are all goals, although I already do a lot of them.
My resolutions:
Eat less junk and do more meal prep.
Most of the times when I forget to pack lunch or dinner, I forget to eat in college. Then when I get home all hungry, I eat easy fat food. Sometimes sugary things, sometimes take away. I want to meal prep more, so there’s always something healthy (or somewhat healthy) in the fridge to grab.
I want to gain muscles.
I’ll make a post about my body later. But what I can tell you now; my arms look skinny but they have no muscles. My legs are the opposite; I run and cycle a lot so they contain a lot of muscles. I’m just not in muscle proportion, haha.
– I want to do more with friends and keep better contact.
I love my friends, they are my

family

,

my support and my savers. I am so busy with school and work, that I sometimes forget to seek contact. I want to change that and see them more often.
– I want to feel good about myself
I don’t hate my body, but I struggle with habits I have. They make me feel insecure. I want to change, or make a start to change them. I hope the “new” me can give me confidence.

Have you made resolutions? Did you manage to work on them?! I’m curious!

Vegan cooking; tapas night

Hey!

Tonight I had dinner at a friends house. He knows I’m a vegan, and he wanted to make dinner together. We decided to make tapas! Why tapas? Well because I like eating and this way you can eat a lot of different things. It’s also easy for him, because I’m the only vegan tonight. Not everyone wants to eat the way I do. I respect that, so eating tapas is a great idea. This is what we made;

image

(From left to the right)
– peppers filled with mushrooms, spring onions and spinach
– corn/kidney bean salad with cherry tomatoes
– salad with cucumber, green pepper and spinach
– filled eggs (not vegan)
– dates with pieces of  banana’s inside
– bruschetta
– no-tuna-tuna salad

And today I’ll give you the recipe for the bruschetta.
Ingredients
– bread (I like Turkish bread)
– tomatoes
– garlic
– basil
-seasoning
-olive oil

How to make
Preheat the oven at 200° . Then cut the tomatoes, you’ll only need the outside, the ‘hard’ part.
Cut your bread and put it in the oven for about 5 minutes.
Then cut the ‘hard’ part of the tomato in small dices. Throw away the wet inside.
Cut garlic into very, very tiny pieces, and do the same with the garlic. Put the garlic, basil and tomatoes in a bowl together with the olive oil. Mix it well.
Take your bread out and put some tomato salsa on top. Voila!

It’s an easy yet delicious recipe. I like to make it as an appetizer, or eat it as my lunch. You’ll always score with this one.

Christmas shopping; how to keep your head cool

Hello!

Tomorrow is Christmas eve, so exciting! I already bought my presents, but here are some tips for the people who didn’t. We all know them; they all push it to the end, but then get stressed out when everything is sold out..

1. Sold out? Try buying it online. If that doesn’t work, try your social network. Maybe some of your Facebook friends owns the book your desperately looking for, and wants to sell it to you.

2. Look on pinterest for DIY things. Maybe a calender? Or a bookmark?

image

3. Trade some things with friends. If you have a lot of dvd’s you already know that you’re never gonna watch, try to trade them. Maybe you can give your new dvd to a friend, and watch them together. Also buy popcorn and coke (or wine) and call it a movie night!

4. Buy food. Nobody ever hated food. I never know what I should give to my grandma. So pretty much every time I and up buying her chocolates. She always eats them straight away.

5. I could say; buy it one time, but that’s to late now. You can make a list for next year. I always make a list with things I think this person may like. And then when I see it on sale I buy it. This can be in August but also in April. That way you’ll never be without a present in December.

6. Create a present using your skill. Can you play the piano? Or write beautiful poems? Play a piece especially for someone, or write something about him/her.

My coupon for my dad to drink coffee and eat some pie with me.

7. If your present really can’t be delivered or bought; give something for after the holidays. Make a coupon for a lunch, or buy a ticket for a concert.

8. If you’re initial present can’t be bought,  then buy something practical. This is a good idea because the things we need cost money, and it isn’t fun buying them. If you get them you can be certain it’s something that you’re gonna use,and it saves you money! I love it when my mum buys me pretty underwear or beautiful sheets.

I hope you can use my tips to make an amazing Christmas with lots of good well-thought-not-bought-at-the-last-minute- presents.

xx Jazz

Citytripping; Londen!

Hey!

Who doesn’t love impulsive actions? Well, I certainly do! Last week I went with my dad to Londen. Did we plan this trip? Nope.
We received a mail with a great offer, we would stay 1 night in Londen, for very little money. We booked our flight and 6 hours later we flew to Londen.

Did I ever do something like this? No, this is probably the must impulsive thing I did. We arrived around dinner time, and we had a blast.

image

We had curries in Camden, oh they were so good! The next day we went to Hyde Park, to the Winter Wonderland. It was so big, you could skate and go to various foodstands, and even go to the carnaval!

image

Winter Wonderland was so big! It had various attractions.

Of course we made a silly photo. I love my dad. 💜 I was pretty happy, there were a lot of good vegan options to eat. My dad ate “the English way” and had himself some sausages and eggs.

image

We went to Covent garden to buy some Christmas decorations, and walked around regent’s street. I loved the little Christmas market next to the church. Did anyone else visited it? I liked the way the people talked about what they were selling, they were sitting in the cold. But still found the passion to keep going and keep making beautiful art.

It was funny, because last year I also went to London. And believe it or not, around the same time! We stayed 1 day more. Would I be going next year?

Which city did you visited to buy some Christmas presents?

Vegan proof Dutch festivals

Hey everyone!

I think every vegan will recognise this; Imagine you’re at a festival, you’re with friends, and wanna have a good time. You came to dance and to laugh, and that’s what you did for the last 3 hours. But now you’re hungry. You look for anything vegan, and what do you find? Chips and plain bread. A real vegan fest. Not.
I hate these kind of situations. You’re having a great time but then you have to eat something. Eating is mostly a social thing; and you can’t bring your own food. So you’re obligated to buy something there, but there’s hardly anything. Instead of something fun, eating becomes a annoying thing to do. My friends are all sweethearts, and they help me find a solution. But it’s still something I rather avoid. I know that’s not always possible,  but luckily it was at the last 2 festivals I visited!

image

I went to a movie festival with my boyfriend, and believe it or not, there was a vegetarian/vegan food truck! They served couscous with pumpkin and falafel wraps. Hell yeah.
It was so cool, we even went back the other day to see another movie.

image

The second festival I visited was Kwaku. It’s a famous Dutch foodfestival located in one of the most multi cultural areas of Amsterdam. And that was shown in the food. Unfortunately there were like 30 BBQ food stands. But, there were also roasted corn and sweet patato stands. I had one massive roasted corn and it completely filled me up. I wish I made a picture but I was way to hungry.

It’s nice to see that there’s also a lot of interest in the healthy, vegan or vegetarian food. If there wasnt, there wouldn’t be veggie food trucks. It’s progress and I’m really happy about it. A lot of people slowly seem to get aware of healthy food and what it does to your body.
If you’re in Holland next year, and you get the chance to come to one of these festivals; please do! It’s a lot of fun for vegans!

BBG week 4

Hey everyone!

yeah, I’m already on week 4 of Kayla’s program. I’m starting to enjoy it, it feels nice to work yourself in sweat. ALthough it’s still hard to do it on school or work days. Like yesterday, I had school and a tea date with my best friend. I was back home around 9, and felt so tired.
So I did it the day after. I don’t think that’s a big problem.
I also have a question: Do you guys drink?
It’s, like we call it here (roughly translated) “partyweek”. It’s like carnaval. All the bars in my village open the doors, they sell drinks on the street. There’s also a fair; with a lot of fun things. Everybody meets eachother; we drink, we laugh, we recollect memories.. And everybody drinks.
I don’t drink much, but I also drink a few glasses. What do you think about that?
Here are my results from this week:

I hope you’re enjoying it as well, and that we can see some results in the following weeks!

Friday Favorites

Hey everyone!

I know it’s not weekend yet, but I’m already dreaming about it. The favorite day of the week? Friday! I don’t have to work, have college till 3, and there is always time to do soemthing fun. (or to attend a party).
Wanna know what my friday favorites are?
1) I love to start my day relaxed, and on friday I have time to do that. I start my day with yoga (extended sunsolution) and normally I don’t have time for that. It’s a great way to begin your day.
2) I love to drink my “Dille&Kamille” morning tea. It’s a tea made with all kinds of herbs, like camille, mint, nettle and more. It warms up my body, and keeps me in the calm and relaxing state that I am after my yoga session.
Morning tea
3) On fridays I normally have time to bake. And I love to bake! I usually make banana oat cookies. They are easy, and really good. I use them as breakfast cookies, or just as a snack. It feels like a treat to make and eat them. 🙂

4)Friday drinks with the family. On fridays the whole family comes togehter. We drink some wine (or soda) and eat some tapas. We catch up, we laugh, we love. I love fridays.
5) I love to read. I work on saturdays, so I rarely go out till late. That gives me time to read my newest books.

What are your friday favorites?!

Running is that bomb

Hey readers!
How is your day? I’m  currently sipping on my mint tea,  and sitting in the sun. Could life be any better?  Well maybe. I just had exams all week long, and I have one left next week. But I’m  currently focussing on tomorrow: I’m  gonna visit my university!  I need to make some sort of a test, and depending on the results I get in. You might understand how nervous  I am. I really want to get in. I ran, to relieve me from the stress.

image

And it helped. I’m  feeling more relaxed now. What is your trick to relax? Do you also go for a run? Or do you start reading or eating?

BBG week 1 review

Hey everyone!

I just finished my first week of the BBG! I found it really hard to be honest. The cardio days were easy, but the resistence days were hard.
I’m not just to that kind of training.
But damn it felt so good! I know it’s my imagination but it feels like I already gained muscles.
That’s why I’m doing it; I want a muscular body. I want to feel proud.
I don’t follow Kayla’s HELP nutrition guide, is there someone who does?
I found it expensive, and I already eat HCLF.
Here are my update pictures from this week:
bbg week 2
bbg week.

I’m gonna try to keep pn to the BBG, untill I go to Thailand. That is in less than 11 weeks..
I’m excited for tomorrow; my first HIIT workout! 😀

5 reasons to start drinking lemon water

Hey lovelies!

I drink my lemonwater every day, but what about you?! Lemon water has some amazing health benefits and it tastes amazing to!
But why should you drink it everyday?

1. Because the lemon in the water can help your digestion to get moving. If you have problems to digest, the lemonwater may do the trick. The minerals and vitamins can help your upset stomach. That’s why people also call it “detoxwater”.
2. Because it is way better then drinking soda. It helped me to stop my dietcoke addiction. Lemon water is way tastier.
3. It can help you lose weight. The pectine fibres in the lemon give you a full feeling. And the water helps too, you might think you’re hungry, but you’re possibly only dehydrated. So drink your lemonwater before you grab a snack!
4. The vitamine C in the lemons can help your immune system. The ascorbic acid in the lemons helps your body to fight inflammations. It also helps your body to balance out your iron levels. And that all simply by drinking lemonwater..
5. Lemon helps you to get a nice smelling breath. It combats the bacteria growing in your mouth. So if you drink it in the morning, you’ll have a fresh breath.

lemonwater
You get all of the above simply by drinking the lemonwater!

Why even doubt it? I make a big glass before I go to bed, and it’s the first thing I do in the morning. That way it’s easy to drink enough water troughout the day, and you won’t forget to drink it.

xx Jazzie
